Planning the work
Access, parking & street permissions
An exterior job starts at the street as well as the wall. Equipment, materials and deliveries need a route that works with entrances, pedestrians, neighbouring occupiers and the permissions attached to the proposed arrangement.

Inspect the route before reserving equipment
Look at the pavement, steps, lightwell and entrance together with the height and position of the work. Identify how residents or guests will enter, where materials can be unloaded and what needs protection. The garden-square setting does not itself provide a place to park, store equipment or occupy private space.
Allow for the correct parking suspension process
RBKC's published notice periods distinguish permit bays from pay-by-phone bays: ten working days for the former and two for the latter, subject to the stated application requirements. A request is assessed and is not a guaranteed reservation. Confirm the current conditions and the required location before using a suspension in the work programme.

Check highway licences separately
The council provides licences for skips and temporary structures such as scaffold or mobile towers on the public highway. Its conditions also address associated parking suspensions. Establish which activities need approval, who will apply and the permitted period; a parking arrangement does not by itself authorise a structure or skip.

Coordinate deliveries with the building
Give the authorised representative a practical delivery and storage plan. In a converted house, the shared hall may be too constrained for materials waiting to move upstairs. In a guest house, arrivals and housekeeping add other demands. Agree the handling route and a suitable delivery interval before arranging the drop-off.
Use current vehicle and journey information
TfL's official ULEZ guidance and vehicle checker should inform the delivery and access arrangements. Check the vehicle and intended journey rather than presuming compliance or an exemption. This is a logistical check, separate from a decorating quotation and from any council permission to occupy the highway.

Arrange an Earl's Court repaint
A room, a staircase,
a whole elevation.
Start with the part of the property you want to change. Add who occupies it, when it can be released and whether a managing agent or freeholder needs to approve the work.
Tell us what you have in mind
Please include the SW5 address, the rooms or exterior elements and your proposed timing.
